Like I told Grace, I'm saving up for a better blanket and pillow. Otherwise I mean...it is what it is. I don't necessarily feel unsafe, or uncomfortable. I would prefer more space, but then again--this is also a prison. I get that.

Least you listen and seem to legit and active.

Try not to freak Grace out too much. She's a bit in over her head, and two inmates is going to be a handful for anyone.

So I hear. But I suspect it's not her fault. And my point stands. I don't know much about the other inmate assigned to her, so I'm counting on you to help make sure she's not damaged.

full disclosure though
i have been assigned two inmates this month
i don't think it should be a problem
though i'm not familiar with the new guy yet

anyway the point is i was going to offer you the inmate room by me but it might not be fair to the new guy
maybe a rock paper scissors thing would be more fair ?
or maybe he should stay in the dorms because he's new and he should get the lay of the land ?
or maybe neither
anyway you have seniority and good behavior so far so what would you rather do ?

I don't don't mind the dorms, and I'd argue you should have the newer guy closer to you to keep an eye on, if you feel it's necessary. While I wouldn't object to private space again, I can survive.

i understand your going through some shit right now
i figure you probably want your privacy and all that but i gotta do my due diligence and check in with you, see if there's anything i can do
if you want some privacy away from the dorms, you're free to use the inmate lodgings beside my cabin, given you're at least willing to talk with me first in person
i gotta give you the access for it manually so it's just part of the process

and if talking's not your thing, i don't mind a good spar either

I'm...more stable again, for now. I appreciate you checking in. Not sure we've done more than cross-paths before. What'd my file say? I'm...willing to talk a bit, and would like privacy from the dorms.

I keep weird hours--have trouble sleeping sometimes. Just so you don't think I'm getting into shit I shouldn't.

Good morning.
It appears we've been paired for the month. You're welcome to stay in my inmate cabin, if you'd like.
Either way, I'd like to chat at some point today.
Let me know when you'd like to meet up.

If there's a choice, I'd rather be in the private cabin. You can ask Barnes and Claire, I'm not much trouble other than keeping weird hours.

Barnes wanted to chat too, so it's only fair. Where do you want to meet?

[Loki's leaning up against the wall outside the cabin when Alex arrives. He looks rather calm, but the way he fidgets betrays some unease. Those hands go clasped behind his back when he turns to face Alex.]

Good to see you. You can put your things in your room first, if you like.

[For his part, Loki settles in one of the two chairs at the table in his own cabin, leaving the adjoining door open for Alex to come join him.]

How have you been since the simulation? [He's seemed okay, but appearances can be deceiving. He knows that better than most.]

[ attached: Alex??FamilyPhoto.jpg -- a photograph lying on a table that looks like the kind inside wardens' rooms. The photo is of a young man, who looks strikingly like Alex, and a younger woman who resembles him enough to be a sibling. They are smiling, happily, arms around each other fondly. ]

[Alex just stares for a moment....how? What? He's glad this is through text. And also kind of relieved it's Grace who found it. After a few minutes there'll be a text back.]

It's mine. That's me and my younger sister, Dana. Can you bring it to the Observatory? I'm stargazing at the moment.

[ Alex receives a quick reply-- just a thumbs-up emoji-- and about five minutes later, Grace enters the observatory with a strong coffee in one hand and a photograph in the other. She enters, gently floating, so as to not startle him from whatever reverie he might be in. ]

These are both for you. [ she holds them out, with a little smile. ]
